Cyttraction Research Insights – Public Safety Edition

#1 Medical emergency systems work different in different areas of the world. Some are publicly covered, in some cities you will reach a private company when calling for help – and pay a lot. Finding out those phone numbers can also be tricky.

#2 Most households do not have emergency supplies of drinking water, non-perishable food, a battery-powered light and radio, or basic medical equipment at home.

#3 And most have never even considered the danger that forest fires, flooding or radioactive radiation pose to their homes – or whether they live in a danger zone.

#4 The almost universal answer to the question of when a person last took a first aid course is ‘for my driving licence’ – if mandatory.

#5 All the experts we have spoken to so far confirm, that only disaster PREVENTION can provide real relief in dangerous situations. Once people find themselves unprepared in an emergency, they immediately become dependent on help, which poses enormous challenges for aid workers and logistics on the ground.

Like during the flooding in Vienna last September, the professional fire brigade handled 1,300 call-outs within 24 hours. On normal days, there are approximately 115. During the forest fires in Los Angeles at the beginning of January, there were even 19,300 call-outs within 7 days.

In such situations, every person and every household that does NOT need to be rescued counts.

THANK YOU to all emergency teams and first responders! ❤
